IATA ULD REGULATIONS



SECTION 2 - LIMITATIONS


An aircraft Unit Load Device is allowable on-board a given aircraft type only if it is both:

a) Airworthiness approved (certified) by a civil aviation authority.

b) Allowed, through its certification classification identifying code, by the Weight and Balance Manual (WBM) for installation on the aircraft type.

Limitation applies to all ULDs as a result of either the regulatory requirements or the aircraft structural limitations or both.

2.1 Maximum Gross Weight Limitation:

The maximum allowable gross mass of a ULD on a given position in the aircraft’s cargo compartments is specified for each position in the aircraft type or sub-type's Weight and Balance Manual and shall always be comply with. In most instances, it changes according to the position concerned.
