DGR (Documentation)

 

Documentation:
 

  • IATA shipper declaration is not required.
  • If a document such as an Air waybill used, it must include "Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities" and indicate number of packages. See below Air waybill picture. 

Excepted quantity package test:

 

  • Tests (drop and stacking) must be carried out by the shipper on packaging's as prepared for transport.
  • Shipper package testing 1.8m drop test and 24 hrs stack.





UN Specification packaging not required.

Three layers of packaging


• Inner receptacle

  Closures held in place using positive means.

• Intermediate packaging

Breakable inners require absorbent material     Cushioning material.

• Strong, rigid outer packaging

•Documented drop test and stacking test carried





Minimis Quantities: 


Can be shipped as a non-regulated item     

Up to 1 ml or 1 gram per inner receptacle

No more than 100 ml or 100 g per package

Must meet all the requirements for EQ (E1,E2,E4 & E5)

Packaging's as per 2.6.5

Intermediate packaging not required with cushioning

material in outer packaging

Liquids – sufficient absorbent material to absorb contents

 

of inner packaging's

Package tests per 2.6.6 required



Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities

Some Dangerous goods may be safely shipped in good quality combination packaging in limited quantities.

These inner and outer packaging's must meet certain construction standards and be capable of withstanding a drop test and stacking test when packed for transport. They also require marking to indicate that they are Limited Quantity packages. Packing instruction with the prefix of "Y" in the list of Dangerous Goods.


1)Limited Quantity Package Test

No UN certified packaging required.

The Shipper does not have to meet certain minimum standard Shipper package testing:

        Inners for liquids pressure test

        1.2-meter drop test

        24-hours stacking test

        Gross weight must not be exceeded 30kg





2)Limited Quantity Marking

100 mm x 100 mm

        For small packages, the dimensions can be reduced to not less than 50 mm x 50 mm

        Must display a Y in the center.

        The Y is the shipper’s certification.

        Required on packages containing limited quantities (Y packing instructions)

        This marking is in addition to all other required markings.
