RXS                                               Articles and substances which present.

No significant hazard. Effect from accidental

functioning is confined within the package.

E.g. Ammunition for hand weapons, for signals,

Safety Fuses, some type of Fireworks, etc.

Division 2.1                                   Description

Flammable Gas                            Any gases which, when mixed with air in certain proportions,

                                                        Forms a flammable mixture.

RFG

Example: Butane, Hydrogen, Propane, Acetylene, Lighters

Hazard Label

Division 2.2

Non-Flammable                        Any non-flammable, nontoxic gas or refrigerated.

Non-Toxic gas                            liquefied gas

RNG or RCL

Example: Carbon dioxide, Neon, Fire Extinguisher, liquefied Nitrogen or Helium

Division 2.3

Toxic Gas                                   Gases known to be toxic or corrosive to humans and known.

RPG                                          to pose a health risk.

Example: Most toxic gases are forbidden for carriage by air; some are permitted, e.g. aerosols of low toxicity, tear gas devices.

CALSS 3 – FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS

Flammable Liquid                                   Any liquid having a close-cup flash point of 60 degree C                                                                         or below.

Or not more than 65.6 degree C open-cup test (DGR                                                                             Appendix A) and liquid

 RFL                                                           Explosives

Example: Certain Paints, Varnishes, Alcohols, some Adhesives, Acetone,

                                                                                   Petrol, Fuel etc.

CLASS 4 – FLAMMABLE SOLIDS; SUBTANCES LIABLE TO SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION; SUBSTANCES WHICH, IN CONTACT WITH WATER, EMIT FLAMMABLE GASES

This classis is divided into 3 divisions:

Division 4.1 Flammable solid

Flammable solid, Self-                       Any solid material, which is readily combustible, or may

Reactive Substances;                         cause or contribute to fire through friction, self- reactive

Polymerizing Substances                  Substances and polymerizing Which are liable to undergo a

And desensitized                                strongly exothermic reaction; desensitized explosives which.

Explosive.                                            may explode if not diluted sufficiently.

RFS

Example: Matches, Sulphur, Celluloid, Acrylic                                                                                       polymers,  polyethylene etc.

Division 4.2 Substances Liable to Spontaneous Combustion

Spontaneously                                          Such substances are liable to spontaneous heating or to

Combustible                                             heating up in contact with air and then liable to catch fire.

this occurs when the rate of Heat production exceeds the                                                                       rate.

of heat loss and the auto-ignition Temperature is reached

RSC

Example: White and Yellow phosphorus, Magnesium                                                                             diamide.

Division 4.3   Substances which, in contact with Water, Emit Flammable Gases

                                                                  (Dangerous when wet)

Dangerous When Wet                            Substances, which by interaction with water are liable to                                                                        become.

spontaneously flammable or give of flammable gases.

RFW

                                                                  Example: Calcium carbide, sodium

CLASS 5 –OXIDIZING SUBSTANCES AND ORGANIC PEROXIDES

These classes divided into 2 divisions:

Division 5.1 Oxidizing substances

Oxidizer                                                   A substance that yields oxygen Readily to stimulate the

                                                                  Combustion of the material

ROX

Example: Ammonium nitrate fertilizer, calcium chlorate,                                                                      bleaches.

Division 5.2 Organic Peroxides

Organic peroxide                           An organic material (liquid or solid) that can be lighted readily                                                           by

external flame and then burns with an accelerating rate: some.

                                                         Substances react dangerously with others.

ROP

                                                          Example: tert-Butyl hydro peroxide

CLASS 6 – TOXIC and INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCES

This classis is divided into 2 divisions:-

Division 6.1 Toxic Substance

Toxic substance                               Liquids or solids, which are dangerous If inhaled, swallowed.

                                                          or absorbed through the skin.

RPB

Example : Arsenic, Nicotine, Cyanide, Pesticides, Strychnine.

Note: some are totally forbidden, e.g. Bromoacetone

Division 6.2 Infectious Substance

Infectious Substance                          Substances which are known or reasonably expected to

contain pathogens and cause Disease in humans or in                                                                             animals.

RIS

Example: Virus, Bacteria, such as HIV (AIDS), Rabies, some diagnostic specimens and Medical and Clinical waste
